 Document 2 • Creating Original Art for the ECHO Home Page        <   1  2  3  4  5  6   >

Dan and I met. We reviewed the architecture images we’d gathered and I threw some new ideas at him. We agreed that we needed specific icons or images to identify the different sections on the home-page navigation island.

I had a clear idea for the 10,000 Years section: four bands of buildings representing the four main sub-sections. An Iroquois longhouse for the Native Continent Section, the gate to Louisbourg and some colonial buildings for Age of Empires, a factory for Industrial Age and two skyscrapers for Contemporary Canada.

Reconstruction, Iroquois longhouse Source: McGhee, Ancient Canada (Canadian Museum of Civilization, 1989).

For the Present Meets Past section icon I proposed a metaphorical building. The front end representing the present, the back end, the past. Strata and textures in its detailing.
