The Explore Canadian History
Online (ECHO) Prototype
2000
The
Echo Site (Explore Canadian History Online) was part of the NFB's vast
Canadian History Web project. I was brought in as Artistic Director late
in the game. So, I immediately hired a team of Web designers that would
be able to create a look and feel appropriate for the project's target
audience of 18-25 year olds. We worked closely with the Technical and
Content teams to produce a working prototype.
The ECHO prototype remains an unpublished Web site, but the production
experience and design concepts were not wasted. Ultimately, they played
a key role in advancing the NFB's subsequent Web development initiatives.
Below are links to a number of screen captures and other documents related
to the project. They give an idea what that the unseen prototype looked
like, and offer some insight to the production process.
